Fundamental mystery

All my life I've been harassed by questions: Why is something this way and not another? How do you account for that? This rage to understand, to fill in the blanks, only makes life more banal. If we could only find the courage to leave our destiny to chance, to accept the fundamental mystery of our lives, then we might be closer to the sort of happiness that comes with innocence.
~ Luis Buñuel, born on this day in 1900

If only! But instead we choose to make ourselves crazy.

But trains often jump their tracks, so that's neither here nor there.

I've found that "big" decisions (such as the ones you mentioned) cannot be made until you're at that point anyway. Anything else is borrowing unnecessary trouble or trying to have control where none is actually possible.

(And don't ever take anything as a hard-and-fast rule. We're all just feeling our way in the dark.)
