In commemoration of the 500th anniversary of the publication of
Amadís de Gaula, Grupo Editorial Norma is publishing an
anthology of Spanish chivalry from the 16th century. Colombian literature professor María del Rosario Aguilar is co-editor of the project and
discusses their "best seller" status, as well as Cervantes' historic criticisms:
"La perspectiva de Cervantes es revolucionaria, en el sentido de que hay por primera vez un héroe que se enfrenta con el mundo que lo rodea, que quiere hacer del mundo lo que a él le parece y se estrella constantemente con la realidad, lo que abre la concepción moderna del mundo", explica Aguilar.
